Presentation

The presentation of your research proposal is an important component of the course as it requires that you;

	complete reading of pertinent research on your topic of interest,
	practice your presentation skills, and
	reinforce the academic content covered in class.

It is recommended that you follow the structured guidelines presented in the following table. Example PowerPoint presentations are provided below the Table. In addition, a tabulation of the two presentation sessions and who is presenting when appears at the end of this page.

Slide*	Topic Item	Instructions
1	Title slide	Title of the project, Your name, Your Major, Month, Year.
2-4	Background	Present prior research findings that logically lead to your question/purpose.
5	Question/Purpose	State this very clearly.
6	Rationale	Briefly explain why an answer to your question/problem will be important.
7-8	Hypotheses	State your hypotheses. Remember, state them in a way that is conducive to statistical assessment.
9-12	Methods	Present these in as much detail as is suitable for your topic. Remember, your detail should be sufficient to allow any other class member to replicate your study.
13	Variables	Summarize your independent and dependent variables.
14	Statistics	State what statistics you will use.
15	Power	Explain how you estimate anticipated effect sizes and statistical power.
16-17	Limitations	List and explain all the limitations of your study.
18-20	Anticipated Findings	Present the results you expect to find.
21	Main References	What references are central to your study.

*These are only recommended slides numbers. Depending on your topic, you may require fewer or less slides per topic item.
