The Bujinkan UNM Dojo is dedicated to teaching the the martial art of Budo Taijutsu as taught by Bujinkan Soke, Masaaki Hatsumi of Nodashi, Japan. Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu is a 1000 year old Japanese martial art. The Nine Ryu as taught by Soke Hatsumi focus on awareness, perception and distancing; three skills that are absolutely vital for both effective self defense and life in general. These Nine Ryu encompass martial skills ranging from Ninjutsu, Ukemi (rolling), Koshijutsu (attacking the opponents weak points), Koppojutsu (manipulation of balance or the skeleton), Bo-Ryaku (strategy), Kyojutsu Tenkan Ho (fighting pshychology), as well as the entire range of weaponry (knife, katana, staff-long, short and flexible weapons). Proper training in Taijustu (whole movement) and Chosi Dori (channeling one’s intention) can lead one down the path towards greater awareness of oneself, ones surroundings and an expanded perception of the opportunities that life offers. Robin Warne, Shidoshi (certified 6th Dan instructor by Hatsumi Sensei) will work closely with students to gain insight into these martial and self defense skills as well as the life philosophy acquired through Warriorship and the study of Budo Taijutsu.
