2012.91.49, female attendant, painted terracotta.
Eason Eige collection; photo by B. Bernard
This female's face is so expressive, it's tempting to see it as a caricature of an actual attendant. On a more serious note, the figurine reminds us that in ancient China, even after death the perks of privilege included female servants or even concubines.
The next photo provides a close-up of the attendant's face.
