statement

The process of painting begins for me in the rationalization of thoughts, ideas and occasionally dreams. Sketching these sometimes fleeting ideas allows me to engage the process of thinking, and begin to give structure and form to these thoughts. A portion of these sketches make it to the easel. It is in the process of painting that I really get to explore an idea and what its content means to me.

The substance of my work revolves around a central theme, humanity. I enjoy exploring ideas and theories of human behaviour and evolution, the ways in which we impact and react to others, our environment, and ourselves, and the past present and future of our species. Painting allows me the freedom to explore this range of ideas through the use of metaphors, abstraction, and geometry
