"I agree", says the storyteller, "Antarctica has some of the world's most powerful storms, and it is easy to see why. Where else is the air any colder than in the strong winds that come down off an ice cap? Where else is the air so cold where it meets the wet air above an ocean?"
"You still haven't told me," says our listener, already knowing
some of the answer, "why there is so much ice on Antarctica."
"You haven't let me finish," says the storyteller. "The frozen continent and its ice cap are completely surrounded by wet air above the ocean. If it takes cold air bumping into warm wet air to make a big storm, then there should be a whole bunch of cyclones swirling around over the ocean next to Antarctica. And there are."
