The story begins with an impossible statement......

The Blue Whale is the biggest animal that ever lived in the world, because the South Pole sits smack in the continent of Antarctica.

Twenty four elephants equal one big Blue Whale.

Each statement or explanation by the storyteller is met with a question from a skeptical, but still curious kid, asking in bold letters, and dubiously.....

"Why?"
"What?"
"How?"

The explanations which follow are in typewriter style and placed within

"quotation marks"

and are direct answers by the storyteller to the kids questions. Longer and more general explanations are not set off by quotes. The story uses simple, well-known words for kids reading at the advanced third-grade level, or higher. If you've long-since graduated from grade school, read on, don't let that stop you from seeing Earth's great loops.
