Upsilon Nu Mu Chapter Leadership Descriptions

Chapter Committees

*Chapter Committees are appointed by the Chapter President and evolve according to the needs and interest of CSI-UNM members.

Membership

Promote CSI at each new student orientation every semester and welcome all new members. Distribute certificates and pins in a timely manner, and within the academic term in which they are received. Assist/lead the initiation ceremony at the end of the Spring and Fall semesters. Create opportunities to network and have fun (e.g., potlucks, happy hours, and other social outings).

Webmaster

Update and maintain the web resources including the committee activities, events, calendar, meeting minutes, links and other virtual chapter documents as needed.

Awards

Oversee the nomination and decision process for chapter awards each semester, then complete and submit packages to CSI International each fall. Order the awards plaques and assist/lead the awards ceremony at the end of the spring semester. Facilitate the application and decision process for the conference grants each spring.

Community Volunteer

Create counseling-related volunteer opportunities in the community and provide information to help our members understand how they can volunteer within the community.

Fundraising

Host events each year to increase chapter funds, which support the goals of our members including: conference scholarships, professional development, awards and other chapter activities. 

Newsletter

Facilitate article material throughout the semester, and create a bi-annual newsletter each fall and spring summarizing chapter events and updates about current students, alumni and faculty.

Professional Development

Provide professional development workshops throughout the year in addition to our Annual Resource Fair each spring.

Social Justice

Promote awareness, advocacy, and activism for underserved populations through workshops, campus activities, or community outreach.

Health & Well-being

Provide workshops, experiential activities or information that contributes to the health and well-being of the body, mind and spirit.

Chapter Officers (elected positions)

School Representative

Create counseling-related service opportunities in the school-based community and provide information to help our members understand how they can make a difference in the school community. Assist with the initiation ceremony at the end of the spring semester, and assist Membership Committee.

Community Representative

Treasurer

Maintain appropriate financial records, collect and distribute financial obligation, and compile necessary treasury reports as necessary. Complete a financial audit each year with the outgoing/incoming Treasurer, President and Chapter Faculty Advisor prior to taking or turning over the position.

Secretary

Keep and distribute the minutes of the meetings, correspond with Headquarters through the Chapter Faculty Advisor, and execute related duties pertaining to the office as assigned by the Executive Committee.

Past-President

Serve as a mentor to the President, Executive Committee and Committee Leaders. Assist with the Awards program in the fall and oversee the nomination committee during the spring semester.

President-Elect

Serve as associate to the President, and serves as a member of the Executive Committee. Assists Committee Leaders in their duties and performs the duties of the President in the event the President is unable.

President

Oversee the operations of the chapter including the administration, financial and operational activities. Submit the Annual Plan prior to September 30th and submit the Annual Report by April 30th to Headquarters.

Chapter Faculty Advisor

Must be a regular, full time counselor education faculty member in good standing of Chi Sigma Iota International. Responsible for overseeing all compliance with the Society and Chapter By-laws and procedures including correspondence between the Headquarters office and the chapter including verification of the eligibility and endorsement of all nominees for membership.
