| When counting small boxes always remember there are 5 small boxes going across for each large box. Rhythm must be regular. Remember, each small box is .04 seconds Count from the Tip of the R wave to the Tip of the next R wave. In EKG we count 1/2 boxes too. In the example above I am counting 26.5 small boxes. Let's calculate the R wave to R wave heart rate. 26.5 x .04 = 1.06 seconds: 60/1.06 = 57 b/min. Heart rate is 57 beats per minute (b/min) |
