I am a doctoral student in Organizational Learning
& Instructional Technology -- mostly on the IT side -- at The University of New
Mexico. I anticipate finishing my PhD in 2009.
My main interest is distance education in learning
partnerships among organizations, especially those involved in
emergency or disaster response and recovery. I am interested in
teaching as well as building and managing partnerships (consortia or
the like) that would, at least regionally, allow volunteer and
professional disaster-related organizations not only work well
together, but learn and train together more. I am particularly interested in emergency and disaster training and education for medical professions and in and among volunteer organizations.
I am twice an alumnus of Appalachian State
University, The NCAA National Champions in Div I-AA (2005) and Div I (2006) Football. I received my B. S. in Geography (1997) and my MA in
Educational Media - Media Production (2004) there. I also earned
a graduate
certificate in Tele-learning from East Carolina University, and completed Squadron Officer School at Air University.
From 1997 to 2004, I was a GIS technician /
specialist with the N. C. Division of Emergency Management, during six
or seven declared disasters. I also served as an aerospace education
officer, air crew member, and ground team member in Civil Air
Patrol, the civilian auxiliary to the USAF.
I am a Christian, a political conservative and a Southerner.
