Planning For College Success

Planning For College Success (PFCS) is an amazing way to impact the community by building relationships with students at local middle schools. The main goal of PFCS is to encourage students to prepare and pursue post-secondary education. Another goal is to help provide positive role models for middle school students, and represent UNM students in a positive light in the community. PFCS established a partnership with Jefferson Middle School last year and we are continuing to be involved with Jefferson's numerous school programs. Activities for PFCS include after school tutoring of the students at Jefferson Middle School, and March to College, when students from Jefferson Middle School visit the UNM campus after school.

Relay For Life

Relay For Life is a nation-wide event held by the American Cancer Society. Groups of individuals form small teams, and raise money throughout the year to donate to the American Cancer Society's research for a cure for cancer. During April, the relay is held, in which local teams stay awake an entire night, and walk around a track. The motivation for this event is that "Cancer never sleeps, so for one night, nor shall we." NSCS, UNM, is proud to participate in this event, and holds many events throughout the year to raise money. You can join the NSCS, UNM, relay team here .
