Basic Physiology

Calculate atmospheric and alveolar partial pressures of O2 and CO2 for the conditions:

a) sea level, and 24% RH @ 24 ° C, ; b) Albuquerque (5,000 ft @ 630 mmHg) and 15% RH @ 24 ° C ; b) Pikes Peak (4,300 m) and 15% RH @ 5 ° C

Interpret the O2-Hb Dissociation curve.
Understand the Bohr effect.
Understand the potential diffusion limitation for oxygen for the blood-gas interface of the lung and peripheral tissues.
Why is hyperventilation at altitude beneficial for PaO2?

Exercise at Altitude
