Welcome to the 1st Annual
High School Band Day
at the
University of New Mexico!

We are excited to present UNM's First High School Band Day at University Stadium. Any high school band members, grades 9–12, including colorguard and drumline, are welcome to join an all-day event at the University Stadium with the Spirit Marching Band for UNM's first home football game

We ask for student participants and guardians to review the information below.

Registration Deadline is July 26, 2024.


7:00 a.m. Check-in at Indoor Practice Field (IPF)

8:00 a.m. Music Rehearsal

8:30 a.m. Drill Rehearsal

11:00 a.m. Rehearsal Ends prepare for Lobo Walk

11:30 a.m. Lobo Walk


12:30 p.m. Music Review

1:00 p.m. Lobo Prowl through Howl Zone - Tail Gate Area* (see note below)

TBD - Halftime Performance

After halftime, participants may continue to perform stand tunes with the Spirit Marching Band or join their families for the rest of the game.

As participants are part of the Spirit Marching Band during the game, we do ask for everyone to follow the following rules:
- No cellphone use in the stands
- No visiting with family/friends during the game
- No food deliveries
- Family/friends can take photos but will need to stay outside of the band's area. Family/friends are not allowed on the field but can move to the concourse for a better view.

*Parents/Guardians and Students - Please read:
During our Lobo Prowl, we will be performing and marching through the tailgate area. This area may contain a high volume of individuals who have consumed alcoholic beverages. As the band marches through this area, we will have all high school participants in the middle of the ensemble with the current Spirit Marching Band members standing at the edge of the parade formation in between the students and tailgate individuals. If you wish for your student to not participate in this portion of the program, we will lead them into the stadium to wait for the band to arrive. This option will be given in the participation form so we have documentation of those who will opt out of this portion of the day.

Cost: $40

Includes a Spirit Marching Band t-shirt to be worn after check-in, a water bottle, lunch, and ticket entry into the game. We will provide electronic information for the students to review and practice the music prior to the event. We will also provide a video for colorguard participants to practice the routine before arriving to the event. All participants will need to bring their own instrument (with flip folder) and equipment. We will not have any extra instruments to supply students. Only bring what you need and can carry as we will not have a storage area for all instruments. Sousaphones and drum line can store cases in our truck during event.


Friends and Family Game Day Tickets:
Cost: $10

We invite friends and family to join in on the Game Day to watch the opening home football game! These tickets will be general admission into the student area, closest to the band area, for you to watch the students perform their halftime game performance with the Spirit Marching Band.
