September 29, 2004 Meeting Minutes
Here’s
what was discussed at our last HSAC Meeting (9/29):
- The next Legacy Lectures are on October
27 and November 16
at 7pm... those that have
signed up,
please be there 20 minutes early to help with set up... so 6:40pm. I
will send out
a reminder as we get closer.
- Wherry Elementary needs volunteers and
here is a great
opportunity to help children in the community! If you are interested go
ahead
and contact with Nancy Trailor at 268-2434.
- We got a date to go to Project Share but
it happens to be
during our Fall Break, so when a new date is set up it will be
announced.
- HSAC T-Shirts are on sale for $5, if you
would like one you
may buy one at the next meeting.
- Our Halloween Party has been moved to
Wednesday, November 3
at 6:30 because of a Legacy
Lecture
that is taking place on the original date of the party. Feel free to
invite
friends -- it is an Honors function, and there will be food, fun, and a
scary
movie.
- For those that have signed up to help out
with the high
school recruitment, Lauren Huesemann (laurenkh@unm.edu)
will be contacting you to organize that committee.
- A group has been formed to work on
presenting something at
the Research and Creativity Symposium on November 22.

- The Honors National Conference is being
held in New Orleans Nov.
10-14. More information is on the way.
- Next Monday Oct. 4 at 1:30
a group of HSAC members are meeting with Dean White to discuss plans
for an
Honors House. The group will fill us in on what was discussed at our
next
meeting.
- We had a rep from “Teach for America”
come and tell us about opportunities with this organization. There is
an
informational meeting next Tuesday Oct. 5 at 5pm
in the SUB Ballroom Fiesta A&B. If
