I
have a very close and small family here in Albuquerque.
It consists of myself, and my mom and dad.
My dad is a Professor of Information Systems at the University
of New Mexico, and my mom is a Financial Analyst at the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority.
Both of them are highly educated, dad has a Ph.D., and mom has an M.S.
and an M.B.A.. In our family education is a top priority.
My parents moved to USA from India and because of their education and
hard work, they have been successful in life.
They always instill this in me and say they would do anything they
possibly can to help me succeed in academics. My extended family lives far away in India.
I get to see them usually once every two years.
My grandparents, uncles, aunts, and cousins are really warm and love me a
lot. I
can feel their love even though we live miles away.
We communicate regularly through phone and e-mail.
I can speak the native language “Bengali” fluently.
I feel language is a bridge between them and me, therefore, even though
they all can speak fluent English, I prefer to talk to them in Bengali. |
