THE MUSSMAN FAMILY

David's maternal grandmother was a Mussman and maternal grandfather was a Brumback.

Henry Mussman, Sr.

1813-1888

Henry Mussman, Sr., born in Linsberg, Hanover, Prussia, December 13, 1813. Henry married Sophia Smith (Schmidt?) Mussman who was born May 28, 1809 in Prussia. She was industrious, a good mother, cook and houskeeper, and always of very neat appearance. Henry Sr. died September 17, 1888, Cincinnati, Ohio. His occupation was a cabinet maker. Sophia Smith Mussman died April 12, 1889, Cincinnati, Ohio. Both are buried in the family lot in Linden Grove Cemetery, Covington, Kentucky. They were parents of seven children:

1. Sophia Henrietta Mussman, born Oct.4, 1854, Covington, Ky., Feb. 12, 1890. She never married. Buried family lot, Linden Grove Cemetery.

2. William Ernst, born September 14, 1842, New Orleans, Louisiana, and died December 4, 1924 in Covington, Kentucky. He married Rebecca Mulberry April 25, 1866 in Covington, Kentucky.

3. John Henry Mussman, born Dec. 13, 1843, New Orleans, La. He never married. Date of death and burial unknown but research indicates a John H. Mussman, born 1843 in Kentucky, was an inmate of the Central Kentucky Lunatic Aslyum in 1900. Oral family history has it that he enlisted in the Union Army during the civil war, was captured by the Confederates and imprisoned. He either escaped (one version) or was traded for a confederate prisoner and returned home and never adjusted to a normal life after that experience.

4. Frederick Mussman, born Jan. 22, 1846, Covington, Ky. Died May 30, 1850. Buried family plot Linden Grove Cemetery.

5. Dorithia Mussman, born May 28, 1848. Died June 3, 1850. Buried Family plot Linden Grove Cemetery.

6. Elias Frederick Mussman, born Aug. 20, 1854, Covington, Ky. Married Nov. 4, 1875 to Mary Louise Fox. He died May 20, 1928, Cincinnati, Ohio. She died Oct. 25, 1942, Cincinnati, Ohio. Both buried family lot Evergreen Cemetery, Campbell Co., Ky. They had four children.

7. Anna Katherine Mussman, born July 4, 1857, Covington, Ky. Married Sep. 24, 1880 to James Fisher (Tom) Snook. She died Clarksville, Ohio Jan. 17, 1917, children, three.
