Equipment

A standardized emergency cart including a Zoll Defibrillator is located on the unit. Additional equipment, which is not consistently required, is available on the unit or in the hospital. All phones display an adhesive label stating "Dial 44, Emergency Dr. Heart". If the code involves a pediatric patient, this must be conveyed to the Operator when calling the "Dr. Heart". An EKG machine is available in the center.

Patient care supplies are provided by either the Central Distribution Unit or the pharmaceutical company. Supply quantity is based on established par levels. Supplies are stored in a clean storage area and in pre-determined secondary stock points.

O2 therapy is available through Respiratory Therapy. Procedure rooms #1 and #2 are equipped with O2.

Medications are obtained either from the pharmaceutical company or the hospital pharmacy. All medications are secured in the double locked pharmacy area of the center.

Capital equipment ($1,000, or more, and a 3-year life) is purchased from approved budgeted money annually on a bid per product basis.

Non-capital equipment is purchased from approved funds on an as-needed basis.
