Mentee Role

A mentee is a new manager to UNM or a UNM employee recently promoted to a management position who is interested in developing a network of support that will enhance his or her knowledge and work experience.

Mentee Benefits

Mentee Responsibilities

  • Develop strong managerial competencies that pertain to successful management at UNM.
  • Increase job satisfaction through positive exchanges of ideas and experiences.
  • Create a professional relationship with an experienced manager.
  • Learn more about the University culture and structure.
  • Network with other managers within the University.
  • Have the opportunity to become a mentor to someone else some day.
  • Maintain consistent contact with the mentor (at least 2 to 4 hours a month).
  • Be open to feedback.
  • Be interested in learning and growing.
  • Be proactive.
  • Follow through on commitments.
  • Communicate cooperatively.
