Research Project


Reconfigurable and Programmable Photovoltaic Cells

  • Proposed and implemented SerDes (Serializer/Deserializer)design operating at 20 MHz using ON Semi 0.5um technology for reconfigurable solar cells.
  • Designed the test bed to test the system, wire bonding and generated test vectors by employing Vertex 2P Pro FPGA board.
  • Proposed fault and partial/complete shading detection and mitigation algorithm.
  • Characterized PV cell for different configuration under various loading condition.
  • Presented a novel NMOS based PV module mathematical modeling technique.
  • Built a spice model of NMOS based PV module using T-spice/H-spice.
  • Implemented fault tolerant detection algorithm on an FPGA and Arduino board.

Avalanche Photodiode (APD) Tranimpedance Amplifier

  • Designed various stages of Transimpedance Amplifier.
  • Proposed testbed for the Transimpedance Amplifier.
  • Designed 2-stage single-ended differential amplifier operating at bandwidth of 5.5 GHz.
  • Optimized the matching network of common source amplifier by using CGH40009P JFET to achieve a bandwidth of 5.0 GHz with a gain of 12 dB.
  • Improved the architecture and reduced the operating cost to half by implementing the same design with one APD.

128 X 128 CMOS Read Out Integrated Circuit

  • Designed layout and netlist of the Column and Row select in the ON Semi 0.35um process by using Tanner Tools (T-Spice, L-edit, LVS).
  • Characterized and designed the unit cell.
  • Generated the signals in Vertex-2P Pro board to test the chip.

ASIC Design Flow for IBM 180nm technology process

  • Designed the standard cells library(no of cells 80) for IBM 180 nm process which include DRC, Schematic, LVS, PEX, Symbol generation and Abstract generation.
  • Generated the .lib and analyzed all the cells in standard cell library by using the Encounter Library Characterizer (ELC) for later timing and power analysis .
  • Predicted the timing, power analysis, area of the FPU and AES Engine by using the RC tool in the Cadence Design Suite.
  • Performed the Power Grid routing, DFT placement, clock tree insertion, placement and routing of the standard cells with filler cells by using the Encounter tool in Cadence Design Suite.

CMOS Two- Stage Operation Amplifier in TSMC 0.35um HV technology

  • Implementation and optimization the Opamp to achieve a gain (≥ 60dB) with a bandwidth of 65 MHz.
  • Achieved a operating range of +6.5 V to -6.5 V.

RF LNA Amplifier and Tunable RF Oscillator

  • Designed a LNA operating at 2 GHz with a gain of 20 dB in Agilent ADS.
  • Optimized the matching network to achieve VSWRin < 2.8 dB,VSWRout < 2.8 dB and Noise Figure < 2 dB.
  • Designed a tunable oscillator by using a varactor diode operating at 2GHz in Agilent ADS environment.

Duckhunt Game on FPGA Board

  • Implemented the Duck Hunt game on Vertex-2P Pro board. An external monitor is connected using the VGA interface with a resolution of 800 X 600 with operating frequency of 50 Hz. An external mouse interface is designed to shoot virtual flying ducks.
