PEP 536: Exercise Biochemistry Laboratory

Welcome to the website pages for this course.  As you know, this course is a vital part of your training to be an independent researcher in exercise physiology.

You need to be aware that what you get from this course is totally dependent on your commitment to working beyond the minimal requirements for the course.  For example, how good you get in biochemical laboratory techniques and assay completion will depend on the time and mental energy you invest into working in the lab.  In addition, such time commitment will also provide "hands on" application of the theory content that I provide.

Be aware that you are likely to break something in the lab this semester.  Of course, in an ideal climate, you should not break anything.  However, our lab is small, and it is inevitable to have glassware "hit the floor" - accidents happen.  If you do break something, let me know so that I can immediately arrange replacements.

Note the the links at the top of this page direct you to pertinent sections of the course website.  I will post PDF files of lecture notes, references for background reading, summaries of pertinent assays, and each of the course laboratory experiments.

GOOD LUCK, and happy biochemical "cooking"
