The Austrian-American Council of New Mexico

represents a joint effort between the National Austrian-American Council in New York and the Auslandsösterreicherwerk in Vienna, Austria. Established to support cultural and academic ties between Austria and New Mexico, it holds several awareness programs. Plans to hold further dual vocational seminars in Austria are in the works. At the initiative of the national council, President Clinton declared the first Austrian-American Day with the full support of all fifty state Governors of the United States on September 26, 1997.
