Library Policy Information
Any adult is welcome to use the Library's collections in the building.Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult.
Borrowing materials requires a library card.
Please bring your card to the library each time you visit.

UNM Valencia Campus Students,
Faculty and Staff
Valencia County Community Users
- May borrow any number of books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), or maps.
- May borrow any type of videos (limit 2 titles)
- May request interlibrary loans.
- Must have LOBO ID cards.
- LOBO ID card available at Library
- Photo-ID required.
Individuals affliated with other UNM campuses
- May borrow any number of books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), or maps.
- May borrow any type of videos (limit 2 titles)
- No interlibrary loan service
- LOBO ID issued at home or Main Campus.
UNM retirees and Valencia Campus alumni
- May borrow 5 items including books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), videos (limit 2 titles) or maps.
- May request interlibrary loans.
- Retirees must have LOBO ID.
- Alumni must provide copy of degree when registering for library services.
Individuals affliated with New Mexico institutions colleges and universities
- May borrow 5 items including books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), videos (limit 2 titles) or maps.
- No interlibrary loan service
- Requires institutional ID.
- Appropriate documentation as indicated in Passport program documentation.

ABE/GED Students
- May borrow 5 items including books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), videos (limit 2 titles) or maps.
- No interlibrary loan service
- ID issued by ABE/GED office each semester.
Other community members
- May borrow 5 items including books (except Reference), periodicals (except current issue), videos (limit 2 titles) or maps.
- No interlibrary loan service.
- ID issued by Library.
- Requires photo ID and proof of address.
- **Local community teachers are not limited to 5 items or 2 video titles.

Replacement Charges
- There are no overdue or late fees when items are returned.
- Borrowers will be billed a replacement charge for unreturned or lost items.
- A notice of billed items with a replacement cost is sent to the borrower when items are overdue.
- Borrowers will not be able to check out additional items until the bill is paid or the item is returned.
- Students' college records are "held or frozen" until the bill is paid or the item is returned.
- Bills can be paid in-person at the cashier's office or online at the UNM-Valencia Marketplace .
To clear student records for billed item:
- Return item to library.
- Supply replacement item to library.
- Pay bill at cashier's office or online and present receipt to library.
Renewing Materials
- Materials may be renewed 3 times, if no other borrower has requested the item.
- You may renew items online using LIBROS.
- Library staff will renew items in person at the Circulation Desk.
- Library staff will renew items by phone (505-925-8990).
Requesting Materials Already Checked Out
- All borrowers may request an item; except for a Reserves item, that is checked out (place a hold).
- When the item returns, it will be held for the requesting borrower.
- Library staff will notify the requesting borrower that the item is available.
Returning Materials
- Materials may be returned to the Circulation Desk or a Bookdrop.
- Reserve materials must be returned at the Circulation Desk.
- Bookdrops are located:
- Outside the front door of the Library
- Near the northeast corner of the Learning Resource Center (Library) building.
- At the Circulation Desk.
Computer Use Policy
- CLASS ASSIGNMENTS COME FIRST! These computers are provided to assist persons taking classes at UNM-Valencia Campus. Use of the computers for recreational web browsing and other non-research functions is permitted by students and others when the machines are not busy. You may be asked to vacate your terminal if it is needed for research.
- The computers may not be used for any commercial purpose.
- The user may not adjust, reconfigure, or alter the hardware properties in any way nor may you load software onto the computer.
- The user may not view or print any material that is sexually explicit or otherwise offensive except as part of a UNM-Valencia research project.
- The user may not engage in any form of illegal software copying or other copyright infringement.
- The user should print only what is absolutely necessary and May not print additional copies of anything. Please use the photocopy machine for copies.
- Children under the age of 15 may not use the computers at all unless they are currently enrolled in a community education computer class AND their teacher or parent is present with them at the computer.
