Katie primary research interests are bilingualism, sociolinguistics and language acquisition, especially the use of Spanish, Portuguese and English among young children. Her dissertation research investigated the grammatical, discursive and identity-related patterns of code-switching among young bilingual children in a Spanish immersion classroom in the southwest of the United States.
